About Us

Jobs in Arnhem Land is a Job Skills Network platform. The idea for Jobs in Arnhem Land has grown directly from the voices of community members and Traditional Owners who want to see more opportunities for local people to build strong futures on Country.

For many, finding work in community has been difficult. Young people often leave Arnhem Land for school or training, then return home with certificates but no clear pathway to use their skills. Others move away for work but would come home if they knew opportunities were available. Women, in particular, have found it hard to connect with meaningful employment close to family.

The creation of Jobs in Arnhem Land has also been strengthened by partnerships. Leaders have welcomed the Job Skills Network team spending time in community, learning about Country, listening to priorities, and shaping the platform to reflect local needs. This site is not just about finding work. It is about building futures, keeping families connected, and supporting the next generation to live, learn and work on Country.

The opportunities advertised on this website include paid work and volunteering positions, either based in Arnhem Land, or with our partners who are closely involved with the work being done in the Arnhem Land region.

John Dalywater

“We want to see our children have their future on Country with their families. It hard for people to find a job in community. This Jobs in Arnhem Land website will be helpful especially for women and young people to connect with work opportunities.

Young people go out of community for school and training then come back with certificates but don’t know where to turn to. Hopefully they can use the website to access opportunities and use their skills.

It’s great to see more rangers employed and more opportunities created over the last few years, and we hope this growth continues. It has been fantastic to partner with Job Skills Network, with the team coming out to community to understand our environment and help support us to have more opportunities.”

“People have already seen a lot of growth and development in the last few years, it is great to see this progress happening. This has been something we have decided to do, working together and with good governance and support from partners like Job Skills Network.

It gives me more ideas and excitement for the future. It is a good story to tell the younger generation about what we have achieved and a positive future. The Learning on Country program is really important to help our young people get an understanding and interest in work on Country.

"If there is a job available where do we look" is a key thing asked by people in our community. This Jobs in Arnhem Land website will be a very useful tool to show what opportunities are available and allow people to contact the Job Skills Network team for support. Access to part-time and flexible jobs are also very important."

Alfred Rickson

“It will be really good to see the young ones working on machines and in meaningful work — if I see them working that will make me proud.

The Jobs in Arnhem Land website will be helpful for our community members who have moved away, to see opportunities which exist on our Country. It will provide a way for our people to return home and have meaningful work on Country.

It would be great to have information about opportunities for ranger work on the website.”
